About CPAO
The Coalition of Palestinian American Organizations was formed
in 2015 to represent American citizens of Palestinian heritage. Its
member organizations include over 100,000 Americans with
family roots in many Palestinian villages and towns.*
While celebrating and honoring our status as United States
citizens, we also honor our heritage in the land of our ancestors.
We facilitate programs that can increase understanding between
the peoples of these two areas, and we are proud to act as
ambassadors of Palestinian culture and tradition.
We take seriously our commitment to American democracy, which requires the participation and vigilance
of every citizen in the political process. We engage in dialogue with elected officials and
follow legislation, especially as it affects the parts of the world we
know well.
We believe in the American promise of liberty and justice for all.
We uphold the US Constitution and defend the freedoms it
conveys.
*Approximately 8 million Americans trace their ancestry to the Middle East and North Africa. According to the 2020 Census, 174,887 people specified having Palestinian ancestry. The total number of Palestinian Americans is likely much higher.
